General Impression: George
George George of the Jungle smaller in Quake
3
Looks: 8/10
A wonderful jungle-themed map, looks really
nice and smooth. The scrolling sky effect is
actually used WELL in this level, with the illusion
that it’s real. It has virtually no slowdown
on my computer, because of it’s small
size.
Playability: 7/10
Although nice for Tourneys, this level is very
small for DM play and as a result games up to
even 30 frags can end in about 20 minutes. This
is one of those levels that IS fun to play on,
but the small size limits the longevity or replay
value of the map (like Q3DM1 or basically ANY
Unreal Tournament map :) ).
Player Type:
Anyone who doesn’t constantly run from
danger or hide from it could probably have a
bit of fun on this map. But still, the size
of the map will help this one to become boring
extremely fast.
Bot Ability: 4/10
Apparently the bots are also affected in someways
by the small size of the map. They tend to gang
up on the player, even in Standard DM mode,
rather than fight each other, so in a small
map like this, with 4 or more bots on Hardcore,
you will find yourself quite frusturated, because
as soon as you teleport in after death, you’re
more than likely going to be hit with a stray
rail shot from a bot.
Newbie Factor: 10/10
This is where I think the level shines. Your
typical newbie doesn’t like to or even
know how to turn around and shoot at an opponent.
With this level, because of the small size,
there’s really no need to do so. The newbie
can back himself into a corner with a railgun
and a few slugs, and doesn’t even have
to aim much to hit a player if the map is loaded.
So if you’re a newbie and want to win
against your newbie buddies, download the map.
Overall Rating: 5/10
Basically, unless you like to look at maps,
or you’re a newbie, you probably wouldn’t
like this map for that long before you said
“THIS IS TOO FRAGGIN SMALL”. But
hey there are lots of Qwebs among us, so for
all of you, dig in.
