Hey another smokin' small FFA/tourney map for
your ever-growing collection! [Kona] has been
making maps for what seems like an eternity
and everything he does just shines. This is
one of his few releases for Q3A and includes
a smaller tourney version so be sure and check
that one out too!
VISUAL AND ARCHITECTURE :
Dressed up in battle weary metal this arena
has a great Classic Quake look and feel to it.
The map is somewhat tight with many inter-connected
hallways and slight step-ups that cover the
three varying height levels. With the addition
of tele's the speed of this map st00pid! =).
The custom textures provided by Stecki look
just great and put me in mind of a glorified
dm4 theme. All the lighting is provided by the
ambient dusk sky and wall mounted crucifix light
fixtures. You'll dig on all the cool details
in metal textures with rusted grates and weathered
stains running from the steel rivets. The dirt
flooring in the heart of map fits well and completes
the theme.
GAMEPLAY :
With 2 versions of the same map included in
the pk3 file, you'll be happy with duels or
small FFA's. The gameplay is very intense due
to the strong connectivity and selection of
all the weaps excluding the BFG. FFA's are really
messy and with plenty of cut-off points the
GL and RL really stand up and make some noise
here. I found duels to be quite satisfying in
the main version as well as the bonus "tourney"
version. Of course the tourney version is a
bit smaller and some item tweaks have made it
more suitable for this style of play. The small
puddles of water on the ground floor make for
some great sound cues, as does a pick-up of
the Mega and RA. If you can get suited up with
a GL and RL and get to the RA/Mega side of the
level you can really get the frags rolling.
I had a great time surprising punks with some
nice GL shots down the many halls and openings
available to me from the RA perch =). Moving
around the map is a breeze and you can scoot
from one side to the other rather quickly by
jumping from platform to platform and by using
the teleporters.
I had a great time on this one and with 2 versions
of the map you'll be ready for any situation.
The gibs fly fast and blood rains constantly
in "Until The End Of Time". Grab this
one and be sure to check out the other great
