You may have heard of Jonas
before - he's created ALOT of awesome Quake
levels (Sadlark series), and for Quake2 he's
already done a two-map unit. Unfortunately,
because it was so good, it just left me craving
for more because it was too short! Premonition
Of Angron is right on the target - spanning
four great levels which will keep you busy for
a long time. The design and architecture is
perfect, and with a very non-linear layout it
was a very professional set of levels. The theme
goes from your usual base, to coffins and a
great palace that looked even nicer than ID's
work.
The gameplay was awesome too, although most
of the big guns you won't get if you aren't
the type who hunt around for secrets (dammit
that rocket launcher would have come in handy
if I found it!). The last level was especially
tricky, with you having to defeat a dozen Commanders
and then go kill Makron while a bunch of Medics
start re-spawning everything in the background!
I especially enjoyed running around the level
trying to kill those Medics before they brought
anyone back (of which, apart from a puny soldier,
they failed to do). There was plenty of health
to get you through, and enough ammunition too.
By the end of it I had so many slugs saved that
I could do almost the whole last level with
just them (and a few grenades). These levels
were very fun and even better was the superb
design, which make Premonition Of Angron perhaps
the best set of levels released for Quake2.
