In Weathered Alcazar, you mission
is to go into an historic castle which has been
captured by the Strogg, and retrieve a journal
and sword. There are two levels to trek through,
where you eventually end up back at the start
after collecting what you came for. The gameplay
was good. There was sufficient health and ammunition
to get through comfortably, although the levels
could have been packed with more enemies (around
50 in total). But it was still good fun.
Level design was quite good for a first release.
There were some sections that were a little
plain, but some of the larger rooms such as
the final arena were nicely built. There were
other small touches which also added to the
design, such as wall torches and statues of
the Quake baddies (Enforcer and Shambler).
Overall Weathered Alcazar was
a decent release that I enjoyed and I look forward
to more from this author.
