The Lieutenant's recent debut
release, Ad Infinitum, I wasn't very impressed
with. The layout was bad and the plain grey
texturing of all the walls clashed horribly
with the otherwise nicely Ikbase textured architecture.
However, his second release is a rather big
leap in improvement. The texturing is much better
due to The Lieutenant using a detailed texture
on the walls, although they were still fairly
plain and 2D. The layout was also much better,
being more random this time. You end up returning
to the central area a few times and finish in
a room just off of this.
Gameplay was good, although
very tough. The Enforcers now fire nails, which
can provide a strong challenge. The map ends
with three more of these nail dudes, but they're
a lot tougher and take much firepower before
dieing.
Unlike Ad Infinitum, I'd recommend
The Lieutenant's second release for a quick
bit of action, it is a much better map in all
aspects.

The Lietenant's second effort
has been released right on the heels of his
first, and it is a major improvement. The theme
this time is a dark space station, done in a
Rubicon style. The looks are good throughout,
a bit bright in some areas, but mostly very
moody. The scale of things is quite small, I
would have liked it better if it was larger,
but there's enough room to maneuver about. Particularly
the barrels and crates stowed away in dark corners
were cool and added a lot of aesthetic value
to the rooms. Designs were a bit simple, but
that wasn't much of a problem. Though only grunts
and enforcers were used, the gameplay was actually
quite a challenge, with modified enforcers providing
a tougher breed of monster to the regular mix
(and no dogs, for a change). The combat in the
small room with two hellknights was a bit frustrating
for me personally, but the megahealth and final
combat was awesome (Damn, those guys could take
a lot of hits before finally going down!). All
in all, a small and quite enjoyable map.
